Football Game Preview: Pike County Pirates vs. Callaway Cavaliers + How To Watch

For the first time this season, Pike County will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to square off against the Callaway Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Pike County made easy work of Mt. Zion and carried off a 35-14 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pike County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brayden O'Connell, who rushed for 73 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 143 yards and a pair of TDs. Semaj Smith was in the mix too, providing the Pirates with two scores.

Pike County's run defense was locked in: Mt. Zion could only muster two yards per carry. The team can thank Maddox Storm for the heroic effort on defense: he. Pike County didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged six.

Pike County's defense didn't let Knox Israel., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Mt. Zion's QB won't forget Jayln Hudson anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times. Hudson also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten. Pike County got some further help from Storm: he made 13 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Callaway never let their opponents score last Thursday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 50-0 win over Redan. That 50 point margin sets a new team best for the Cavaliers this season.

Callaway now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pike County, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Pike County was taken down by Callaway 53-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
