Softball Recap: Windber Comes Up Short

Windber couldn't beat Tussey Mountain on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. The Ramblers fell just short of the Titans by a score of 6-5. The Ramblers were not able to make up for their loss to the Titans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Emma Kelly put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Kelly was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Rylee Baer was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. Sadie Pecze was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Windber and nudges their season record down to 5-2. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Tussey Mountain, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Coming up, Windber is taking a road trip to challenge Portage at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.83 runs per game on average), something the Ramblers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tussey Mountain, they have already played their next game, an 18-3 victory against Forbes Road on the 10th.
