Basketball Game Preview: Branford Buccaneers vs. Aucilla Christian Warriors

Branford and Aucilla Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Branford Buccaneers will host the Aucilla Christian Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Branford humbled Union County with a 51-15 victory. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 29 points or more this season.

Branford found their leader in freshman Amyah James, who went 11 of 15 on her way to 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points James has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Barrs, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Branford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Aucilla Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They walked away with a 34-23 victory over the Seahawks.

Aucilla Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Branford, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Everything came up roses for Branford against Aucilla Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 71-32 victory. In that contest, Branford amassed a halftime lead of 43-18, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
