Basketball Recap: West Valley Christian's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

West Valley Christian lost against Roosevelt Preparatory Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Warriors fell 63-53 to the Aces. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, West Valley Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gerald Minott almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Minott has scored all season. Finn Van Ness was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Roosevelt Preparatory Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Yahokim Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Johnson has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 54% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tavis Oatman, who went 7-for-15 en route to 17 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Valley Christian fell to 4-1. As for Roosevelt Preparatory Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Coming up, West Valley Christian will take on American Leadership Academy in a tournament on Thursday. West Valley Christian will need to watch out since American Leadership Academy has now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Roosevelt Preparatory Academy has already played their next contest (against Estrella), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
