Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Red Devils vs. Landrum Cardinals

Liberty is 0-10 against Landrum since February of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Liberty Red Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Landrum Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season.

Liberty is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Geraldine.

Liberty might have lost, but man, Logan Smith was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 8.5 rebounds per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Mijae Karim, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Landrum faced off against Chapman on Monday. Landrum fell just short of Chapman by a score of 65-62. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cardinals came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Panthers are ranked 207th).

Landrum has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Liberty lost to Landrum on the road by a decisive 70-54 margin when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Landrum's Benett Edwards, who went 11 of 16 on his way to 25 points and seven rebounds. Now that Liberty knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
