Baseball Game Preview: Pitman Pride vs. Modesto Panthers

For the second straight game, Pitman will face off against Modesto. The Pride will challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pitman will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Pitman is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Modesto on Monday as they made off with a 15-1 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Pride with their most commanding win of the season.

Alberto Salazar made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jackson Way was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Pitman is 4-1 when Way posts two or more runs, but 5-14 otherwise. Elias Mendez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Pitman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Modesto's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-20-1. As for Pitman, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-15.
