Football Recap: Canyon Springs' Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

Canyon Springs dropped to 7-2 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 33-7 to the Perris Panthers. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this contest were averaging 13.78 points allowed.

Angel Robles threw for 32 yards on eight of 18 attempts. Theodore Virgil was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.

As for Perris, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6. That 26 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Leading Perris to victory were Logan Moore and Xavier Cruz. Moore rushed for 143 yards and one score, while Cruz threw for 324 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt. Those 324 passing yards gave Cruz a new career-high.

Coming up, Canyon Springs will head out to face off against Moreno Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Perris, they will take on Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 37.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
