Preview: Putnam City Pirates vs. Northwest Classen Knights
The Putnam City Pirates will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Northwest Classen Knights at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Putnam City was beaten by Choctaw 65-20. While losing is never fun, Putnam City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Choctaw is ranked 25th).
Although Putnam City took the loss, they still got scores from Ladarren Shoals, Marqucio Woody, and Judson Keefer.
Meanwhile, Northwest Classen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 56-0 defeat at the hands of Ponca City. Northwest Classen was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Putnam City's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Northwest Classen, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Putnam City against Northwest Classen in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 38-6 victory. Will Putnam City repeat their success, or does Northwest Classen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
