Baseball Game Preview: Genoa Area Comets vs. Start Spartans

The Genoa Area Comets will take on the Start Spartans at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing isn't great for Genoa Area: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Start has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.

Eastwood hit Genoa Area with a six-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Comets lost 11-1 to the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Start owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Springfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since April 27, 2024.

Kolbe Roesner made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Roesner was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

Roesner wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Emari Green, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Braydin Roesner also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Genoa Area's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Start, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3-1.
