Baseball Recap: St. Mary's Pirates vs. Calhan Bulldogs

St. Mary can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Calhan Bulldogs as the St. Mary's Pirates made off with a 13-3 victory. With that win, St. Mary's brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

St. Mary's got a massive performance out of Ryan Strub, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Ghigleri, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

On Calhan's side, Noah Nelson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all two of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

St. Mary's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Calhan, they dropped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

St. Mary's has the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome Salida at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salida knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy run totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully St. Mary's likes a good challenge. As for Calhan, they will head out on the road to challenge Las Animas at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
