Softball Game Preview: Midland Park Panthers vs. Cresskill Cougars

Midland Park is a perfect 10-0 against Cresskill since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Cresskill took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Midland Park, who comes in off a win.

Midland Park took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Palisades Park an 18-0 shutout. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Hasbrouck Heights hit Cresskill with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars came up short against the Aviators, falling 12-2. The Cougars have struggled against the Aviators recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Cresskill saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelina Cecere, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Midland Park's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cresskill, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Midland Park skirted past Cresskill 12-11 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
