Plumstead Christian is 7-1-1 against The Christian Academy since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Plumstead Christian will venture away from home to face off against The Christian Academy at 3:45 p.m. Plumstead Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Plumstead Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Dock Mennonite on Wednesday. They fell 6-1 to the Pioneers. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Plumstead Christian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Declan Glass, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Drew Mandia also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, The Christian Academy hadn't done well against Jenkintown recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Christian Academy came out on top against Jenkintown by a score of 9-5.
Jeremy Dorn and Cam Boswell made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Dorn tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Boswell didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 5.2 innings pitched. Dorn has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Dorn scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Boswell scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, The Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Jackson Haseltine, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, Haseltine is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Judah Gray, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
The Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jenkintown only posted a batting average of .200.
The Christian Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Plumstead Christian, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Plumstead Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like The Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.4 strikeouts.
