After flying high against Hillsdale on Friday, Kirtland came back down to earth. The Hornets came up short against the University School Preppers on Monday, falling 13-3. The Hornets' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Kirtland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Lasecki, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another was Ben Difranco, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Kirtland's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for University School, they pushed their record up to 26-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Kirtland will host Independence at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight. As for University School, they will face off against Padua Franciscan at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
