Softball Game Preview: Clark Chargers vs. Eldorado Firehawks

The Clark Chargers are taking a road trip to square off against the Eldorado Firehawks at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clark has three straight victories, Eldorado has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Clark will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Durango, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Chargers blew past the Trailblazers 25-8 on Tuesday. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 15 runs or more this season.

Alizon Abad Macedo was a standout: she scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Paola Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Clark hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five strikeouts batters in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Eldorado lost 20-3 to Sierra Vista on Tuesday.

Clark pushed their record up to 7-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Clark took their win against Eldorado when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
