Baseball Recap: Hazelwood Central Takes a Loss

Hazelwood Central lost against STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hawks came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 14-4.

Mekhi Maclin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Caleb Robinson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Hazelwood Central's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Hazelwood Central will challenge Normandy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for STEAM Academy at McCluer South Berkeley, they will face off against McCluer North at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Stars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.5 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
