Baseball Recap: Hopkinsville Victorious

Hopkinsville got themselves on the board against Muhlenberg County on Tuesday, but Muhlenberg County never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 win over the Mustangs. The Tigers were shut out 6-0 the last time they took on the Mustangs, so the Tigers were just returning the favor.

The result came thanks to Andrew Mayes's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hopkinsville is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Chase Fort was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Hopkinsville is undefeated when Fort posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise.

Hopkinsville's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Muhlenberg County, they moved to 8-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, Hopkinsville will take on Fort Campbell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Muhlenberg County, they will face off against McLean County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
