Softball Recap: Make It Ten in a Row for Central Catholic

Central Catholic came tearing into Tuesday's game with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Oakdale Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Stephanie Garcia looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Jazmarie Roberts was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Samantha Nichols, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.

Central Catholic's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Oakdale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Catholic will head out to take on East Union at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Oakdale, they are taking a road trip to face off against Mountain House at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oakdale's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mountain House has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
