Monticello faced Whitehorse in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Buckaroo blew past the Raiders 77-42. The Buckaroo's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Jackson Keyes threw for 272 yards and six TDs while completing 92.6% of his passes. Cache Young was his top target, picking up 181 receiving yards and three scores. On the ground, Landon Shumway rushed for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries.

Despite the loss, Whitehorse still got an impressive performance from Tristan Black, who threw for 184 yards and three TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 87 yards and one score on only six carries. Black's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Monticello moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Whitehorse, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Monticello will square off against Milford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Buckaroo's defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 44.8 points per game this season. As for Whitehorse, they will face off against Altamont at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
