Softball Recap: Old Lyme Wildcats vs. Cromwell Panthers        
        
		
            
 Old Lyme has not done well against Cromwell recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Tuesday. The Old Lyme Wildcats blew past the Cromwell Panthers 14-1. The high-scoring effort was just what Old Lyme needed considering they were shutout in their previous   game.
  Emma Bayor made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Bayor has been consistent recently: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings every time she's  pitched this season. Bayor was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news, Old Lyme got a  massive  performance out of  Grace Phaneuf, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 3-for-3.  Grace Osbourne was another key contributor,  going 1-for-2 with two  runs, a  triple,  and  an  RBI.
 Old Lyme's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Cromwell, they now  have a losing record at 2-3.
 Old Lyme is on the road again  on Monday to play Haddam-Killingworth at 3:45  p.m. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average, (Old Lyme: 1.4, Haddam-Killingworth: 0.6) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for Cromwell, they will head out on the road to  take on  Bolton at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
