The Apple Valley Sun Devils will face off against the Victor Valley Jackrabbits at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Apple Valley will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Desert Hot Springs on Friday. The Sun Devils put the hurt on the Golden Eagles with a sharp 15-1 victory. With that win, the Sun Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Jaden Padilla made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Padilla was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other pitching news, Benji Avila looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Mikey Fonville was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those runs were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Davis, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Victor Valley not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17, 2025 (when they won 14-1). They were the clear victors by a 22-9 margin over Estancia. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jackrabbits.
Fernando Rivas was excellent, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Davian Dominguez was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.
Victor Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Estancia only posted a batting average of .286.
Victor Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Apple Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Apple Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Victor Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, winning 10-5. Do the Sun Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jackrabbits turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
