Softball Recap: Riverdale Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Riverdale's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sherrard Tigers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won 14 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Peterson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Katie Cox, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Riverdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Riverdale pushed their record up to 20-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Sherrard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverdale will square off against Mendota at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sherrard, they will challenge East Moline United at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
