Basketball Preview: Westview Chargers vs. Ripley Tigers
The Westview Chargers will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Ripley Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Westview is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in Tennessee (the Chargers are ranked 33rd, while the Tigers are ranked 360th).
Last Friday, Westview sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 34-32 victory over the Golden Tide. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Westview has scored all season.
Westview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mccall Sims led the charge by scoring 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Alexander, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Ripley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Saturday after their 16th straight defeat. They fell to Haywood 30-24.
Westview's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Ripley, their defeat was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-19.
