Softball Recap: Walled Lake Western Comes Up Short

Walled Lake Western had lost ten straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-16 to make it 11. They came up short against the Lakeland Eagles, falling 19-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-4 on Thursday.

As for Lakeland, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-8. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Lakeland's part, Meredith Peterson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Peterson has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up a single walk in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Paige Ambler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoie Gagnon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and two runs.

Coming up, Walled Lake Western will head out on the road to face off against Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lakeland, they will challenge Linden at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
