After both having extra time off, the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Jaguars and the Cornerstone Prep Academy Cougars will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It was a proper cat-fight when Georgia-Cumberland Academy duked it out with Unity Christian on Tuesday. The Jaguars fell just short of the Lions by a score of 3-2.
Georgia-Cumberland Academy actually scored more points across those five sets (111-109), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-28, 25-23, 18-25, 15-12.
Despite the defeat, Georgia-Cumberland Academy had strong showings from Bela Barbosa, who had 29 digs, nine kills, and one block, and Ava Reese, who had 24 digs and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Milly Crecelius, who had 16 digs, six kills, and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Prep Academy came up short against Dominion Christian last Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14, 25-22.
Cornerstone Prep Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Georgia-Cumberland Academy, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
