Baseball Game Preview: Monticello Panthers vs. Washingtonville Wizards

Monticello hasn't had much luck against Washingtonville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will face off against the Wizards at 4:15 p.m. Neither Monticello nor Washingtonville posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Monticello fell victim to Valley Central and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Vikings. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Washingtonville didn't have quite enough to beat Warwick on Thursday and fell 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wizards have suffered against the Wildcats since April 30, 2019.

Washingtonville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Dempsey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Washingtonville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Monticello might still be hurting after the 19-2 defeat they got from Washingtonville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
