Football Recap: Teaneck Skates Past Bergenfield with Ease

Teaneck won the last time they faced Bergenfield and things went their way on Friday too. The Highwaymen blew past the Bears, posting a 42-14 win. The Highwaymen pushed the score to 42-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears cut but never quite recovered from.

Teaneck's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Castro, who threw for 255 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 30 yards and one score. Those three passing touchdowns gave Castro a new career-high. Teaneck's leading receiver Deyton Walcott was Castro's top target yet again, picking up 122 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Teaneck was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. They are 3-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Bergenfield's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier Valdez, who threw for 194 yards and a pair of TDs. Jeremy Duran was Valdez's top target, picking up 113 receiving yards and one score.

The win got Teaneck back to even at 4-4. As for Bergenfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Teaneck and Bergenfield will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Highwaymen see the field they'll take on Hackensack at 10:30 a.m. on November 27. As for Bergenfield, their break will end when they face Tenafly at 6:00 p.m. on November 6.
