Basketball Recap: North Decatur Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

If South Decatur wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played North Decatur, they should've done a better job of containing Madi Allen. The North Decatur Chargers walked away with a 36-27 victory over the South Decatur Cougars on Saturday thanks in part to Allen, who went 8 of 15 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. She has been hot, having posted 21 or more points the last five times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Kelsey Haley, who posted six points and four steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024.

South Decatur lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dalilah Martin, who put up four points and four steals. Taylor Somers was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

North Decatur has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for South Decatur, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-10.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Edinburgh the next time they take the court. North Decatur will host Edinburgh at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while South Decatur will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
