Baseball Game Preview: Estacada Rangers vs. Astoria Fishermen

Estacada hasn't had much luck against Astoria recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rangers will head out on the road to challenge the Fishermen at 4:30 p.m. Estacada is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Astoria will be up against a hot Estacada squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Rangers never let Cascade get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Thursday.

The result came thanks to Connor Crawford's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Liam Johnston was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Connor Abbott was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Astoria was able to grind out a solid victory over Rainier on Thursday, taking the game 4-0. The contest marked the Fishermen's most dominant win of the season so far.

The team relied heavily on Sam Schacher, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jack Johnson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Astoria and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Estacada, their record now sits at 4-2-1.

Estacada couldn't quite get it done against Astoria in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Rangers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
