Softball Recap: Carroll Starts Season with Victory Against Goshen

Carroll had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Goshen with a sharp 15-3 win on Tuesday. This was payback for Carroll, who suffered a 2-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Anzley McInnis was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. McInnis was also big at the plate, going a perfect2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Saniya Jenkins, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makynzye Bonner, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

Coming up, Carroll will head out on the road to challenge Russell County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Goshen, they will be playing at home against Georgiana at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
