Basketball Recap: Bishop Ireton Makes It 16 in a Row at Home

Bishop Ireton waltzed into their matchup on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans 93-33. The game marked the Cardinals' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Bishop Ireton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Theresa Hagans JR, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 19 points and six steals. The contest was Hagans JR's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amirah Anderson, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Bishop Ireton was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

The Academy of the Holy Cross' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinsley Beckham, who posted ten points. Beckham continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Seymour, who put up eight points.

Bishop Ireton's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

Bishop Ireton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 86-42 victory against Manchester on the 4th. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, they will square off against Glenelg Country at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
