Football Game Preview: Lakewood Spartans vs. Pinellas Park Patriots

The Lakewood Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Pinellas Park Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Lakewood 12.9, Pinellas Park 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned.

Lakewood's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Clearwater Central Catholic by a score of 19-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

The critical scores for Lakewood came from Sharra Presley, Janessa Lyons, and Alayna Morgan.

Lakewood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Presley, Lyons, and Morgan picked up one apiece. Presley got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Pinellas Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Northeast. The matchup was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Patriots couldn't quite close it out.

Lakewood's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6. As for Pinellas Park, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Things could have been worse for Lakewood, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 19-0 loss to Pinellas Park in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
