Softball Game Preview: Shasta Wolves vs. Truckee Wolverines

The Shasta Wolves will take on the Truckee Wolverines at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday. Shasta will be strutting in after a victory while Truckee will be coming in after a defeat.

Shasta took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Lassen, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves skirted past the Grizzlies 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since March 28th.

Isla Lynch was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Soleil Waterman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Truckee lost 14-6 to Chico on Friday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jessie Borzello was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ellyse Hutchins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Shasta has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Truckee, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
