Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Catholic Knights vs. Greenville H Hurricanes
St. Joseph's Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Greenville H Hurricanes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hurricanes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 on March 1st.

Sydney Slater was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Slater was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
Slater wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eva Carraturo, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. Jacqueline Garrett also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
St. Joseph's Catholic now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Greenville H, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph's Catholic will welcome Carolina Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carolina Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.75 runs per game on average), something St. Joseph's Catholic will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Greenville H, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Providence Athletic Club at 6:30 p.m. on April 4.
