Softball Recap: El Cerrito Beats Kennedy for Their Tenth Straight Win

El Cerrito put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Kennedy Eagles 20-2. The Gauchos have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Natalia Gawlikowski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

In other pitching news, Leah Sundstrom looked comfortable as she scored three runs while going 3-for-4. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Arlie Tatum was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Sanai Vanhook, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

El Cerrito pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Kennedy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4-1 record this season.

El Cerrito will face off against Saint Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Saint Mary's has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.17 runs per game on average), something El Cerrito will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kennedy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Swett at 4:00 p.m. on April 23.
