Basketball Recap: Rampart Piles Up the Points Against Pueblo Central

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Rampart on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Pueblo Central Wildcats out of the water with a 75-37 final score. With the Rams ahead 38-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Rampart's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elias Bishop, who made all 8 shots he took to post 21 points along with eight assists and five steals. Bishop continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Wyatt Kirch was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 13 points and nine boards.

Bishop wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Rampart was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Roger Martinez, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Xavier Alfaro, who had nine points.

The win made it two in a row for Rampart and bumps their season record up to 12-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for Pueblo Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Rampart wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-51 loss against Pine Creek on the 18th. As for Pueblo Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-50 defeat against Pueblo East on the 17th.
