Basketball Recap: Red Mesa Comes Up Short

Red Mesa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valley Pirates. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redskins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-37 last Saturday.

Despite the loss, Red Mesa still got an impressive performance from Jonah Herbert, who went 7 for 17 on his way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. That's the most points Herbert has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Devyn John, who posted six points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Red Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-7 record this season.

Red Mesa will venture away from home to take on Shonto Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Valley, they will host Joseph City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
