Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Donovan

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Donovan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Hoopeston Cornjerkers 3-2. The win was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.

Laylah Lou Walters spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Donovan secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Lily Anderson, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Donovan's record is now 5-8. As for Hoopeston, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Donovan will host Momence at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Momence Athletics at the right time seeing as the Momence Athletics are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Hoopeston, they will welcome Watseka at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
