Rachel Duran, a 5-foot-5 senior from Bernalillo, was the dominant softball hitter in New Mexico this year, according to the MaxPreps stat leaderboards. The most dominant pitcher was Mykaya Olivas, a 5-5 junior from Roswell.

Duran led the state in four major categories by batting a prolific .675, scoring 52 runs, stealing 50 bases and compiling a .745 on-base percentage. Also scoring 52 runs were Aztec junior CheyAnn Simkins and Silver City (Silver) sophomore Zoe Abeyta.

Makayla Guerra also made her presence felt. The 5-4 junior from Silver City drove in 57 runs (on 56 hits) to pace the state and tied for third with 10 home runs. She helped the 22-9 Colts win their sixth-consecutive Class 4A state title and 10th overall, even though they were seeded sixth entering the tournament.

La Cueva junior outfielder Andrea Howard was the home run queen with 18 and ranked third with a 1.214 slugging percentage. She has made a verbal commitment to the University of New Mexico. Alexus Garza, a sophomore infielder from Atrisco Heritage Academy, was the slugging percentage leader at 1.285, in addition to driving in 51 runs for a fourth-place tie.

On the mound, Olivas had the most victories (23) and strikeouts (252 in 184 2/3 innings). Monique Ashley, a senior from Miyamura, also had impressive statistics. She led the state with a microscopic 0.27 earned run average, while also tying for second with 237 strikeouts and firing a pair of no-hitters.

Hope Christian senior Marguerite Chavez paced the state with four no-hitters, tied for second with 237 strikeouts and tied for third with 21 victories for a 27-6 team.
