Basketball Recap: Waldron Comes Up Short

Waldron lost against Liberty Christian back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Waldron Mohawks fell just short of the Liberty Christian Lions by a score of 55-52.

When it comes to explaining why Waldron lost, don't look at Lucas Shaw. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-12 on his way to 18 points. Shaw is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last four games he's played. Max Jones was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Waldron's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Liberty Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8.

Coming up, Waldron will look to defend their home court on February 28th against Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. Sheridan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Waldron likes a good challenge. As for Liberty Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Eastern Hancock at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
