Basketball Recap: Brighton Piles Up the Points Against Cyprus

On Thursday, everything came up roses for the Brighton Bengals against the Cyprus Pirates as the team secured a 60-26 win. The Bengals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 23 points or more this season.

Lucy Chin was a one-woman wrecking crew for Brighton as she went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points along with six steals and five boards. With that strong performance, Chin is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Nielsen, who almost dropped a double-double on nine boards and nine assists.

Brighton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Brighton pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Cyprus, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brighton will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Payson at 3:30 p.m. on December 31st.
