Recap: Minersville Battlin' Miners vs. Mahanoy Area Golden Bears
The Minersville Battlin' Miners lost against the Mahanoy Area Golden Bears back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Minersville took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mahanoy Area. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Minersville in their matchups with Mahanoy Area: they've now lost four in a row.
Minersville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bradley Kostishak, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo Yourey, who scored 14 points.
Minersville dropped their record down to 9-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Mahanoy Area, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minersville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Shenandoah Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Shenandoah Valley is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Mahanoy Area, they will head out on the road to square off against Weatherly at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
