Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Widefield). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Palmer Terrors a 20-0 shutout on Thursday. The Gladiators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Olivia McEwen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Brooke Foster was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Savanna Mitton, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Widefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. The last time their OBP was this high was back in October of 2023.

Widefield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Palmer, their defeat was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-14.

Widefield will welcome Rampart at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Palmer does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
