Football Recap: Erie Piles Up the Points Against Vista PEAK Prep

Erie won the last time they faced Vista PEAK Prep and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers blew past the Bison, posting a 61-34 victory. With the Tigers ahead 45-21 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Jack Arnold threw for 195 yards and five TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. Braylon Toliver was his top target, picking up 69 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Canaan Barthlow and Isaiah Watson certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Barthlow threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, while Watson picked up 197 receiving yards and four scores. With that strong performance, Watson is now averaging an impressive 107.6 receiving yards per game.

The win (which was Erie's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.0 points over those games. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Erie is set to square off against their familiar foe Mullen at 6:30 p.m. on the 17th. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 955 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Vista PEAK Prep will challenge rival Horizon at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
