Arkport Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Bolivar-Richburg by a score of 5-0. Those five runs were actually the fewest the Bluejays have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Meanwhile, Addison made easy work of Jasper-Troupsburg on Wednesday and carried off a 13-1 victory. Considering the Knights have won six games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Miller and Brady Newell were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Miller struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Newell tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Miller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Miller went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Newell went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Miller a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Newt Jones, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Addison's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Arkport Central, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.
Arkport Central suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Addison when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Bluejays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
