Soccer Game Preview: Stratford vs. Memorial

The Stratford Spartans will square off against the Memorial Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Memorial will be up against a hot Stratford team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 13. Stratford never let Cypress Ridge get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Tuesday. Give the Spartans' defense some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Meanwhile, Memorial's and Jersey Village's matchup on Tuesday was close at halftime, but Memorial turned on the heat in the second half with two goals. Everything went Memorial's way against Jersey Village as Memorial made off with a 3-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won three contests in a row.

Stratford's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-2. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those eight games. As for Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

Everything went Stratford's way against Memorial when the teams last played back in February, as Stratford made off with a 7-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stratford since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
