Basketball Recap: Kirbyville Comes Up Short

Kirbyville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Kountze Lions, falling 117-17. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1246th, while the Lions are ranked 186th).

Kirbyville's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Kountze, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-3.

Kirbyville has already played their next game (against Hardin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Kountze is taking a road trip to challenge East Chambers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kountze knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully East Chambers likes a good challenge.
