Softball Recap: Escondido Charter's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Escondido Charter barely beat Santa Fe Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Escondido Charter was the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Santa Fe Christian on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Lilly Harper, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Santa Fe Christian off the board. Harper has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olivia Smith and Zaliyah Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Smith scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Jones went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, Smith posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Mariana Bedolla was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

The victory was the sixth in a row for Escondido Charter, bringing their record up to 11-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Santa Fe Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Escondido Charter Tigers face off against Sage Creek Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Santa Fe Christian, they will challenge Crean Lutheran at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
