Baseball Game Preview: Arleta Mustangs vs. Eagle Rock Eagles

The Arleta Mustangs will take on the Eagle Rock Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Arleta is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Marquez, sneaking past 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

The team relied heavily on Aiden Bedoya, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, while Eagle Rock put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Triumph Charter. The Eagles blew past the Jaguars 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Eagle Rock also got a great performance from Odin Tuntland as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Tuntland has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jake Sugi was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Eagle Rock's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 7-1 (and 3-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Ty Perlas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Eagle Rock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Eagle Rock's victory bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Arleta, their win bumped their record up to 8-15.
