Softball Game Preview: Berwick Bulldogs vs. Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack

Berwick is a perfect 6-0 against Wilkes-Barre since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Berwick Bulldogs will host the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack at 4:15 p.m. Berwick will be strutting in after a victory while Wilkes-Barre will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Wednesday, Berwick was able to grind out a solid win over Crestwood, taking the game 11-6. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Makayla Brown made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was even better at the plate, firing off four runs, three doubles, and one triple while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, Ashlyn Klahold was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Emma Welsh was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Wilkes-Barre unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against North Pocono on Thursday, falling 12-4.

Berwick was able to grind out a solid win over Wilkes-Barre in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 8-5. Will Berwick repeat their success, or does Wilkes-Barre have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
