Softball Game Preview: Sullivan Golden Arrows vs. Cloverdale Clovers

The Sullivan Golden Arrows will head out on the road to take on the Cloverdale Clovers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sullivan is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

On Saturday, Sullivan came up short against Gibson Southern and fell 8-5.

Jaylynn Hobbs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelynn Lynn, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cloverdale never let their opponents score on Monday. They didn't even let North Montgomery on the board, marking the Clovers' second-straight 7-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Clovers.

The result came thanks to Callee Smith's shutout, as she gave up just five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keely McSwine, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Aalyiah Burroff was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Sullivan's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Cloverdale, their record is now 8-11.

Sullivan took their win against Cloverdale in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Arrows since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
